The Thai Wedding...

The Thai partner of the shops daughter got married in Krabi.

Thai weddings are very different from western weddings. Only the closest family are permitted to go to the actual wedding ceremony which is held the day before the reception. It includes the signing of the papers, the handing over of the dowry and a traditional tea ceremony. However I have been told that Thai wedding differ hugely all over Thailand depending on the status of the family and the area where they are from.

The more people are at the wedding the higher the brides family status. I guess I was at quite an affluent wedding as there were just over 500 guests, in fact that many people that we could not all fit into one hall, so some people were in a completely different area from others. The bride, groom and parents of the two had to do a lot of walking around.
